Counseling and Coaching for Cowards!
For those who still have preconceived notions about how scary
counseling must be, or how painful, or how psycho-babblish
it is, you need to talk to us first! We like to dig in, get
to the core of the problem, and help you find effective solutions
for what brings you here to us.
Counseling
People seek or are referred to counseling for a variety of
reasons:
- Sorting through past issues (family of origin, etc)
- Depression or anxiety
- Decision-making about current relationship
- Improvement of social skills (can’t seem to keep
or make friends)
- Anger management
- Personal crisis, abuse, trauma issues
- Balanced lifestyle/ wellness work
- Trying to stop drinking, gambling, smoking, or for weight
matters
- Parenting tips
- Stress management
- Post-abortion or post-adoption feelings
Personal
counseling can be compared metaphorically in many ways. One
of our favorites is to the construction arena. Sometimes,
people in crisis report feeling like they have weathered a
bad storm and the house they live in has either imploded or
suffered a lot of damage.
The counselor erects imaginary scaffolding around you. You
hang on with one hand for steadiness and support, while with
the other, you begin rebuilding a healthier “home”
(yourself) in which to reside.
One day, you begin to realize you are now using both hands
to rebuild your home and no longer need the scaffolding. That
is when by mutual agreement, the counselor and client know
you are strong enough to terminate counseling and return to
a more fortified and structurally sound home, no longer in
need of the counselor’s assistance.
Northcoast Conflict Solutions’ counseling staff works
hard to give you the tools you need to build, to recover,
and to enhance your life skills. We are licensed psychologists
and clinical counselors who are upbeat, caring, dynamic professionals
and who work hard to make your time with us productive.
Coaching
Some professionals seek coaching to:
- Receive guidance to improve business strategies
